What Are Bullet Points?

Writing Bullet Points That Convert

When used properly, bullet points can be very powerful. And better yet, they reduce the content on your webpage making it easier to navigate.

With a few well-placed bullet points, you can have a minimal page that contains only the key elements.

But ensuring your bullet points are effective requires careful planning and consideration. Here are some strategy tips for creating bullet sections that compel visitors to take action.

Keep It Concise

Keep your bullet points as simple and as clear as possible by avoiding complex sentences.

The easier your bullets are to read, the better engagement you will have with visitors. This will ensure that you increase the chance of people taking the desired action.

Marie Forleo Bullet Points

In this example, Marie Forleo has kept her bullets to a single line and capitalized keywords to highlight benefits.

She has also made use of bold text to encourage further reading.

Maintain Consistency

Always stick to a consistent design, format and style to improve the layout. We would also go a stage further by keeping your bullet descriptions to a similar length. This will make the content easier to read and allow people to absorb information easily.

Maintain Consistency Bullet Points

In this example, Voiceflow uses a colour scheme and text style that is uniform and consistent. All bullets are evenly spread out to make them easier to read.

Limit The Number Of Points

Having too many bullets can confuse and overwhelm your visitors. Instead, focus on the most important points that will have the most appeal.  This will ensure that your page is clean and is easy to read.

Get The Guy Bullet Points

Here’s an example from Matthew Hussey’s Get The Guy. It uses three simple bullet points that direct his readers on where to go next.

Bullet points can be a very effective way to guide your visitors, which is essential for increasing conversions on your page.

Use A Simple Structure

Each bullet point should follow the same grammatical structure, creating a smooth flow and enhancing readability.

Avoid using complex words and stick to a basic reading level that is accessible to everyone.

Bodybuilding Bullet Points

This example from Bodybuilding.com uses short phrases to explain the benefits of what the customer will get for becoming a subscriber.

It also uses bold text to highlight key features and uses a consistent colour scheme.

Conversion Tip: Notice the bullets are all a fairly similar length, which helps readability. If you have shorter bullets, use these at the bottom of your bullet list.

Incorporate White Space

White space is an essential aspect of website conversion. The less content in a given section of your web page, the better it will focus people's attention. Include enough space between and around your bullets to make them easier to read.

TeuxDeux Bullet Points
